During a karaoke contest at the teen party, they discover their love for singing. It was nominated the Emmys for Outstanding Children's Program and Outstanding Choreography for the routines: "What Time Is It?", "Fabulous", "Work This Out", "I Don't Dance", "You Are the Music In Me" and "For One".Relive the musical that brought back musicals with the iconic soundtrack to the Disney Channel Original Movie High School Musical on vinyl! While on a family New Year's vacation, shy brainiac Gabriella meets high-school basketball star Troy. Filled with some not bad performances, likable songs, and that real family feel about it, this is another one you can't help but like. as Zeke Baylor, Olesya Rulin as Kelsi Nielsen and Bart Johnson as Jack Bolton. Also starring Corbin Bleu as Chad Danforth, Monique Coleman as Taylor McKessie, Chris Warren Jr. Luckily all is resolved in the end, and Sharpay's brother Ryan (Lucas Grabeel) helps to choreograph a successful talent contest entry for Troy and eventually Gabriella to win with, oh and Sharpay shows she can be nice by giving the trophy to her brother. Also a talent contest is coming soon, and Sharpay wants to get rid of the competition, and it seems that Troy may be leaning towards either being with her more, and turning into a bit of a jerk towards all the Wild Cats. So she hires him to work at her country house for the holiday, little realising they would hire all the other Wild Cats too, and Sharpay wants them either fired, or want to quit, to get Troy to herself. Basically all the original characters are back and they are out of school for the summer, and Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale) is still trying to get Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) to leave Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Anne Hudgens) for her. I had seen the previous TV made Disney film since I heard a lot about it, so I guess I had to see if the sequel measured up too, from director Kenny Ortega (Hocus Pocus). Reviewed by jboothmillard 5 / 10 High School Musical 2 High School Musical 2 as in the original is light and entertaining and who knows when the phenomenon will cease. It's more like Tisdale was playing her rival from Suite Life, London Tipton, on steroids. You can hardly believe it's the same young performer. I'm still amazed though at the difference between good girl Maddie Fitzpatrick in The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and Charpay Evans from the High School Musical films. And I love that Frank Sinatra hat he wears. My favorite number was a choreographed baseball game in which he's the pitcher. Lucas Grabeel comes more into his own in this film as well. But as it will happen in all these films, Efron has an epiphany and all ends right. Tisdale enlists her family in her campaign to win Efron over and she really messes with his head, but good. The lesson she draws on it is get rid of brother Lucas Grabeel and team up with Efron in the talent show. The way Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens was able to cream her and brother in the school musical has made an impression. Interesting that that is her life's focus, but the rich do have value systems us ordinary folks don't have. She really comes into her own as one devious spoiled schemer, the rich girl used to getting everything she wants.Īnd what she wants is to win the talent contest once again at the country club. You thought in the original High School Musical that Ashley Tisdale was bad. The Evans siblings Ryan and Charpay are going to be guests as always while the other four are going to get jobs there. All six of the main characters have decided to go to an exclusive country club. The main characters from the first film are in this one and the film begins with the last few minutes of the school year ticking down to summer vacation. Their demographics must be telling the Magic Kingdom that the High School Musical phenomenon is not disappearing any time soon. In the end, Troy will have to learn how to think about his scholarship without losing his friends. Gabriella feels as though she is losing Troy to Sharpay. Meanwhile, while Troy starts hanging out with the rich folk, Chad is worried that Troy will forget his friends. He is then introduced to Sharpay's parents and realizes that Sharpay can land him many opportunities and even a basketball scholarship. Troy is offered a job at Ryan & Sharpay's country club and ends up landing jobs for Gabriella, Chad, Taylor, Kelsi, Jason, Martha and Zeke.
